Spider Forest - 거미숲

I bought this movie a while ago, but never got around to watching it. Today, I was a little bored and I decided to watch a movie.

This is obviously a Korean movie with English subtitles. I will have to say that the movie did keep me interested during the entire movie. At the end I was eagerly waiting for the final moment where everything is revealed just to have the biggest let down! The movie finished and your sitting there wondering what was going on for the last 2 hours!!

This movie is about a man who finds a double murder (happens to be his boss and his girlfriend) in a forest. He chases after a suspect from the crime scene and gets knocked out by the suspect. He then proceeds to the nearest road and gets hit by a car. From that point on, the movie follows the main character as he tries to find out what happened.

Overall I give this movie a 5. It did keep me entertained for 2 whole hours, however the end was a total let down. This is one of those movies where theres all sorts of twists and turns and you wait to the end of the movie were it all ties together and makes the movie excellent. Except there is not "tie together" in this movie. This movie could have easily have been a 8-9 out of 10 if it had a good ending. It almost seems like the writers wrote this fantastic plot and it was so twisted that they couldn't figure it out for themselves and just gave up.

엽기적인 그녀 - My Sassy Girl (Literally translates to That Bizarre Girl)

My friends know that Im a movie buff. Even though Im a guy I enjoy "Chick Flicks" or Romantic Comedies. I pretty much like any genre as long as the movie is good. I don't mind cheesy, predictable endings. It would defeat the whole purpose of the "Romantic Comedy" genre if the guy doesnt end up with the girl (it wouldnt be romantic then..lol). So I dont get when people get upset with this genre because of the predictable endings..Anyways enough ranting onto the movie!

This has got to be one of my favorite all time movies no matter what genre! But in particular with the Romantic Comedy genre this definitely is at the top. I think it has replaced "How to Lose Guy in 10 days" and "10 Things I Hate About You" and "She's All That". Which is quite a feat as all three of those are my favorites (and I own all three on DVD).

A real quick overview (obviously i don't want to give it away) but a guy meets a girl on the subway. She is so drunk that she pukes on the subway (ironically I just recently saw this happen on my last trip to Seoul, but anyways thats another story), and he is accused of being her boyfriend. So he has to take care of the mess and the girl. He obviously ends up falling heads over heels for this girl. (I think most guys can relate). However, this girl puts him through so many trials throughout the movie that it really tests the patience of anyone (especially the guys). She basically tortures him throughout the entire movie, but as most guys will know, he just can't get her out of his head. Anyways, obviously after some time something happens to the couple and it doesnt seem to work out. Don't Worry!!! Remember its a romantic comedy! Boy meets girl, boy does anything for girl, boy loses girl, boy finds girl, boy and girl live happily ever after. Im just not going to give away how boy loses and finds the girl.

The reason this is one of my favorites is because of the extremely create plot. Yes all romantic comedies follow the same basic plot, but how they get there can vary. This movie has the best twist in the plot that I have ever seen. This is a must see for everyone. Guys, Im telling you if you have to pick a "Chick Flick" to watch this is the one! You will actually bust a gut laughing at this guy, and girls you'll get to see the power girls have over a guy who is totally infatuated with you! Plus, I think everyone will enjoy the way the plot works out as much as I did.

In conclusion I definitely give this a 9-10 rating. I dont know exactly what would make a 10 versus a 9. But I figure since it is one of my favorites it has to be near a 10, but you never know there could be a new movie out there that better? So you cant top the scale off? Anyways, enough reading about this, go out and buy it or rent it.

I have read that an American version of this will be released this year. I will definitely go see it when it comes out. It better not disappoint me or ruin the name of this excellent movie. Either way, Id highly recommend watching the Korean version with subtitles. As most people know, usually the original is the best!
